Three of the five major European leagues have had to endure the dominance of a single club in recent years, including the Bundesliga. Since Dortmund’s heyday under Jürgen Klopp, Bayern Munich has won the championship seven times in a row. But this season everything may be different.

On December 2nd, 2018, Holstein Kiel travelled to MSV
Duisburg and convincingly won 4-0. Last season, under the command of Tim Walter
(now the coach of VfB Stuttgart), Kiel gained popularity as a high-pressing,
possession-hungry side, using a variety of unique actions and structures not used
by other teams. Kiel were identified as promotion candidates, but inconsistency
lead to a 6th place finish. Amid this inconsistency though, were
games where their approach couldn’t have been much better, with their win
against Duisburg perhaps being the best example.

To kick off their 2019 AFCON campaign, South Africa took on traditional powerhouses Cote d’Ivoire in Cairo. Stuart Baxter’s charges lined up in a 4-4-2 shape with Percy Tau playing as a secondary striker/playmaker next to Racing Strasbourg’s Lebo Mothiba, who occupied a more traditional target striker role.
Cote d’Ivoire on the other hand lined up relatively similarly in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia playing as a front-man with strong tendencies to drift to either wing, particularly in potential counterattacking moments. His movements would be balanced by Fulham FC’s Jean Michael Seri, whilst veteran Max Gardel and Nicolas Pepe provided the threat from out wide.

African ABSA Premiership. The home side badly needed a result to avoid

You don’t start
a new league every day. You better do it the right way. Would the happenings on
the field live up to the expectations raised from outside of it?

City definitely didn’t have good memories about the Selhurst Park, since this is where their 18 games winning streak ended last season, in a thrilling 0-0 game, where Milivojevic had the chance to win it for Palace, but missed a penalty in the 90th minute. Now City “only” had an 8 games winning streak, although this game’s importance was higher as a win would put Liverpool under pressure before their crucial afternoon game against Chelsea.
